The Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Segun Ogunwuyi, has resigned from the state government, becoming the latest of several top aides to leave the administration in recent weeks.
Ogunwuyi announced his exit on Monday in a resignation letter dated October 12, 2026, stating that it took effect immediately.
In the letter addressed to the governor, Ogunwuyi described his time in office as a great honour and said it had been deeply fulfilling to belong to a team that worked tirelessly for the state. He expressed pride in what he called the collective achievements of the administration in advancing Oyo State’s growth, development and prosperity.
He thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve and said he was confident that the state would keep making progress. He closed by extending his highest esteem and continued loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
As reported, the letter did not give a specific reason for his decision.
Background of the aide
Ogunwuyi is a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and also served in the House of Representatives before taking up the position of Chief of Staff, one of the most influential offices in the governor’s inner circle.
Wave of departures
His resignation adds to a growing list of Makinde’s appointees who have left the government within the last two months. The reports reviewed do not identify the other aides or explain what is driving the exits, and the governor’s office had not issued any response at the time of filing
