ADC Postpones Presidential, Governorship Screening to 18 May 2026, Cites Security Concerns

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has postponed the Presidential, Governorship Screening to Monday May 18th 2026. The party announced the new date on X on Saturday, 16 May 2026.

The statement which was signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, stated that the screening of affected Lawmakers aspirants will take place in Abuja

“Furthermore, due to the security situation affecting some parts of Northern Nigeria, the screening of affected federal lawmakers aspirants will now take place in Abuja” the statement added

The party promised that all affected aspirants will be updated about the development on the new schedules and necessary details

The party concluded that “we regret any inconvenience this adjustment may cause and appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all aspirants and stakeholders”

However, the date for the screening of the aspirant has been changed twice. It was scheduled to hold for May 14 and 15, 2026 before the party shifted it to May 16 and 17, 2026. Now due to security situation affecting some parts of Northern Nigeria the new date has been shifted to Monday 18th, 2026.

This is also an indicator that there’ll be alterations in the appeal against screening decisions, the publication of cleared candidates and other important activities related to the party’s process
