A fresh fatal encounter involving operatives of the Oyo State Police Command has been confirmed by the police, following the death of a man during a confrontation along the Iseyin-Oyo Road.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the incident occurred earlier on Saturday, May 2nd, when officers attached to the Border Patrol Unit engaged a Fulani man riding a motorcycle along the Iseyin-Oyo Road.

He explained that the man became “restive and violent,” leading to a clash with the officers, during which he was struck and fell from his motorcycle.

The command said the victim was immediately rushed to a medical facility but was later confirmed dead. The Commissioner of Police has ordered the detention of all officers involved pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation. He also directed that an autopsy be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

The incident reportedly sparked a brief protest in Iseyin. However, the situation was brought under control after authorities assured the public that justice would be pursued. The command added that a comprehensive report on the incident would be released subsequently.

This development adds to a growing list of recent police-related fatalities reported by AfrikTimes.
