BEIJING, July 9 (AfrikTimes) – Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah met in Beijing on Thursday, pledging to deepen bilateral cooperation, expand trade, and strengthen their comprehensive strategic partnership.
Li described Namibia as an important African partner of China and said Beijing is ready to work with Windhoek to build on their longstanding friendship, support each other’s core interests and major concerns, and promote mutually beneficial cooperation to advance the modernization of both countries.
The Chinese premier called for stronger alignment of development strategies, an expansion of bilateral trade, and closer collaboration in infrastructure development, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, and other key sectors.
Li also said China is prepared to increase imports of high-quality agricultural and fishery products from Namibia, support qualified Chinese companies investing in the southern African nation, and encourage Namibia to take advantage of China’s zero-tariff and other preferential trade policies to boost its exports to the Chinese market.

Beyond economic ties, Li urged both countries to strengthen cooperation in tourism, healthcare, education, science and technology, and youth exchanges.
He also reaffirmed China’s commitment to enhancing coordination with Namibia through multilateral platforms, including the United Nations, to promote what he described as true multilateralism, implement China’s four major global initiatives, advance an equal and orderly multipolar world, and support inclusive economic globalization.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah, who is on a state visit to China, said Namibia continues to value the assistance China provided during the country’s struggle for national independence and its subsequent development.
She said bilateral relations continue to gain momentum and reaffirmed Namibia’s commitment to the one-China principle.
The Namibian leader expressed her country’s willingness to work closely with China to strengthen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two nations for the benefit of their peoples.
Nandi-Ndaitwah also acknowledged China’s growing influence in global affairs and said Namibia is committed to enhancing multilateral communication and coordination with Beijing to promote regional peace, stability, and development.
