JUST IN: PDP Slams Wike’s ‘Swan Song’ Remarks, Says He’s Not Fit to Lead the Party

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike’s attacks on the party, describing them as baseless and beneath response.

Earlier today, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike during a live media session in Abuja on Wednesday warned banks against opening accounts for the Turaki-led faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the sale of nomination forms. He also threatened to seal any property used by the faction as the party’s headquarters.

According to the Press statement, which was signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the NWC, it stated that the minister, also a public figure abandoned decency and denigrated Nigerians with reckless abandon. The session was “full of sound and fury, signifying nothing” the statement reads.

It further stated that the Minister’s statement deserves no response from the party but the press statement is to apologize to Nigerians for offering a platform to him. They tagged his statement to be “a political swan song and the last kicks of a dying horse”

“We must acknowledge that if we did not lend our platform to make him a Chairman, Minister of State, and Governor, the nation would have been saved the unmitigated damage done to the psyche of countless Nigerians”

They admonished those he “defamed” to seek legal redress, an indication that no one is above the law.

They explained that the office of the National Leader of the party does not exist and if it did, they vowed that the Minister is insubstantial enough to lead the “exalted office” due to his conduct and speech.

The party also stated that they understand his frustration as the sales of forms and activities to hold primaries is ongoing couple with a national convention where a credible Nigerian will emerge as a the Presidential candidate.

“The sale of form is ongoing and there’s nothing Wike can do about it. His delusional boast of dealing with banks that will open accounts for us is delusional” the statement reads.

The minister earlier on raised the issues about the judgment while awaiting the release of the Certified True Copies of the dismissed court appeals, the party confronted him to tell the world what the reliefs in the cross-appeals were and what the judgement of the court was.

“We would be glad to have the Minister tell the world what the reliefs in the cross-appeals filed by his friends were and what the judgement of the court was”

The party concluded that “Nigerians are assured that there is no amount of threats that will frighten the truth, and that though lies like those vomited by Wike travel faster than the truth, they will not reduce the efficacy of the truth when it arrives
