By Activist and politician Aisha Yesufu’s ambition to become Senator for the FCT will not come to reality in this election cycle after the New Democratic Coalition, NDC, reportedly decided not to conduct primaries for the senatorial seat. The party said it will only hold primaries for House of Representatives positions in Abuja.
The development was disclosed in a statement shared on Yesufu’s official platform on Friday.
According to the statement, while the party would not proceed with senatorial primaries in the FCT, it would still conduct primary elections for House of Representatives positions within Abuja.
Aisha Yesufu urged her supporters to remain focused on what she described as the “bigger picture,” particularly the presidential election
“Our party has decided not to conduct primaries for the Senatorial seat in FCT Abuja,” the statement read.
“I urge each and everyone of you to remain calm and focus on the bigger picture which is the presidential election.”
The activist also appreciated supporters involved in her campaign project, thanking them for their commitment and dedication throughout the mobilisation process.
She further disclosed plans to return to the six Area Councils within the FCT in the coming week to appreciate residents for their support and continue advocacy efforts for what she described as a “Better FCT”
