Army Crackdown Leads to Arrest of Suspected  Kidnappers in Edo

Edo, Nigeria – The Nigerian Army this evening said troops of 4 Brigade carried out a security operation in parts of Edo North Senatorial District.

The Army said eight suspected kidnappers and drug peddlers were arrested at Osara, Auchi, and Okpella communities in Etsako West Local Government Area. According to the Army, weapons recovered include one pump action gun, four live cartridges, and one locally made pistol. Drugs, a POS machine, mobile phones, and ₦87,550 cash were also recovered.

In a related operation, the Army said five more suspected kidnappers were arrested during a raid on Aviele Forest.

The Army said all suspects and recovered items were handed over to the Edo State Police Command for investigation.

The Commander  4 Brigade, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, said criminals would not have a safe place in Edo State.
