Nigeria’s Super Falcons were beaten 1–0 by the Indomitable Lionesses in an international friendly played in Yaoundé as both sides intensified preparations for the forthcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Falcons struggled to convert their chances throughout the encounter, with their attacking efforts failing to yield a goal before the final whistle.
Cameroon secured the win in the 90th minute when Yvana Mbomezomo unleashed a powerful strike that beat the Nigerian goalkeeper to hand the hosts a late victory.
Although there are rumours of uncertainty surrounding the tournament’s schedule, Nigeria is expected to open their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign on March 18 against Malawi women’s national football team.
