Egemba Chinonso Fidelis, popularly known as
Aproko Doctor, shared a video today on his official social media pages where he spoke to his viewers about the health risks linked to Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).
In the video, he said that before 2018, BBL was classified as one of the deadliest aesthetic surgeries in the world. According to him, the risk was so serious that some countries even considered banning the surgery.
He said the process involves taking fat from other parts of the body, preparing it, and then injecting it into the buttocks. He said it might look good from the appearance, and further explained that it is dangerous.
He explained that there are major blood vessels inside the buttocks that carry blood from the lower part of the body to the lungs. He further said that even a tiny piece of fat mistakenly enters one of those blood vessels during the injection, it can travel straight to the lungs. When that happens, he said the person can develop a condition known as a fat embolism, which can lead to sudden death.
Aproko Doctor also said some people believe the risk can be avoided by using a certified professional, but he explained that the danger is not only about the doctor’s skill. According to him, the structure of the human body in that area still makes the surgery risky.
He also raised concerns about quack doctors. He said this type of surgery requires years of medical training, but some people perform it in hospitals that are not properly certified. If complications occur, such facilities may not have the equipment needed to save the patient, Aproko Doctor added.
He also warned that many photos of enhanced bodies seen on social media are carefully positioned to look perfect.
According to him, people should think carefully about who they are trying to impress online, because those hyping such body changes today may move on to something else the next week.
He added that some social media comments can pressure people into undergoing risky procedures to enhance their body.
He concluded with encouraging people to work toward their desired body in healthier ways, noting that many people have transformed their bodies through exercise and lifestyle changes, even though it may take longer.
