The Students’ Union of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education (TASUED) has condemned a recent wave of robbery attacks targeting students within and around the institution, describing the incidents as alarming and unacceptable.
In an official statement released by the union leadership, the body expressed deep concern over the growing insecurity affecting students, noting that the development poses a serious security threat to their safety and academics.
The union stressed that the safety and well-being of students remain paramount and cannot be compromised, warning that the continued exposure of students to fear, trauma, and loss of personal belongings is intolerable.
”The safety and well-being of our students remain paramount and non-negotiable. It is unacceptable that students, in pursuit of academic excellence, are being subjected to fear, trauma, and the loss of their personal belongings due to the activities of criminal elements.” The Union stated.
According to the statement, the Students’ Union has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the Nigerian Police Force, local vigilante groups, and other relevant security agencies to take decisive action in apprehending those responsible and preventing further attacks.
“In view of this, we issue a 72-hour ultimatum to the Nigerian Police Force, local vigilante groups, and all relevant security agencies to take decisive action,” the statement read.
The union also called for intensified patrols in student-populated areas, the adoption of intelligence-driven security strategies, and stronger collaboration with authorities, while urging students to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities as efforts continue to engage stakeholders on lasting solutions.
