Nigerian forward Victor Udoh, who recently moved to Czech side SK Dynamo České Budějovice, has reportedly died in Abuja at the age of 21.
Reports which emerged on Tuesday revealed the tragic development, although the circumstances surrounding his death were yet to be officially disclosed as of the time of filing this report.
Udoh joined Dynamo České Budějovice last year after brief spells with Southampton FC and Belgian club Royal Antwerp FC.
Confirming the development in a statement shared on Facebook, Dynamo České Budějovice expressed sadness over the player’s death.
“It is with great sadness that we received the news of the death of Victor Udoh, who came to Dynamo last summer. For our reserve in the current year he jumped into three matches and scored two goals,” the club stated.
Udoh began his European journey with Royal Antwerp after joining the Belgian side from Abuja-based Hypebuzz FC in 2023. During the 2023/2024 campaign, he scored 12 goals in 21 matches for the Young Reds and also made his official debut for the senior team in a home game against Charleroi.
Royal Antwerp, in its tribute, described the late footballer as a talented player whose time at the club left lasting memories.
“It is with great sadness that RAFC has taken note of the passing of former player Victor Udoh (21),” the club wrote.
“In total, Victor made 28 official appearances for The Great Old and was good for two assists, before making the move to Southampton.”
The Belgian club extended condolences to his family, friends and loved ones, praying for strength during the difficult period.
