The African Action Congress, AAC, Oyo State Chapter has notified members of its upcoming primary election, scheduled for May 21, 2026, at the Jogor Centre in Ibadan.
The internal memo which was signed by the state secretary, Olalekan Adisa, encouraged all members to participate in the event.
Furthermore, they request “all local government chairpersons to notify their ward members to submit their digital ID cards via the website for forwarding to the state secretary” they noted that this development is to make proper preparation for the primary election.
Also, in a conversation with Afriktimes, the State secretary, Olalekan Adisa stated that the reason for the digital ID submission for primaries was that since the electoral act has been amended, “e very political party holds a direct primary. Every party member is to participate in accordance with the party, so there is a need to verify our members’ membership cards as it was on the website before the day of the primary.” He noted.
He further stated that there are available positions for gubernatorial candidates, Senators and state representatives. He expressed that the party is a leading voice of the opposition party and people are waiting for their elected representative for support.
“It’s not too hard, people need an alternative political party that has good plans for the masses and that is what AAC represents” he added.
He further expressed that the young people of Oyo should continue organizing with the party. He advised that those who are yet to support the party should not hesitate to do so ” because only the African Action Congress party has a sufficient solution to the state’s political and economic problems” he added.
He also expressed that the party is rooted with a well structured social program which is available for both the youths and elders. He promised that it can positively transform the entire state and the nation at large.
He expressed his opinion on political representation, he opinionated that “the system of impunity should be buried by 2027, because youths have been practically sidelined by the political monetization”
He further imagined how a young and vibrant youth can afford 100m nomination form for a political party position, in a country where the minimum wage is less than $1.
