The All Progressives Congress has announced the full composition of its National Campaign Council and accompanying sub-committees ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
According to a notice signed by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the council will be chaired by Imo State Governor and Progressive Governors’ Forum Chairman, Senator Hope Uzodimma. Serving as co-chairmen are Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas. Ibrahim Kabir Masari, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Political and Other Matters, was named deputy chairman, with Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin serving as secretary.
Beyond its principal officers, the council draws together party leaders, sitting governors, National Working Committee members, National Assembly principal officers, ministers, and federal and state legislators from across the country, reflecting the scale of resources the APC is putting behind the Osun race.
To coordinate the campaign’s operational side, the party has also stood up twelve specialised sub-committees, each led by a serving governor or senior party figure. Senator Hope Uzodimma doubles as chairman of the Election Planning and Management Committee, with Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo as secretary. The Finance and Resource Mobilisation Committee is chaired by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, with Zacch Adedeji serving as secretary. Security falls under Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, with Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu as secretary, while Youth Mobilisation is led by Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, with Abdullahi Dayo Israel as secretary.
The Special Interest Mobilisation Committee, focused on persons with disabilities, is chaired by Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, while Women’s Mobilisation is led by Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, with Dr Mary Alile-Idele and Titilayo Laoye-Ponle serving as co-chairpersons. The Contact, Grassroots Engagement and Mobilisation Committee is chaired by Abbah Yusuf, and Logistics and Campaign Management falls to Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu, with Prof. Julius Ihonvbere as secretary. Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani chairs Monitoring and Compliance, with Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele as secretary, while Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori heads the Protocol Committee. Media and Publicity is chaired by Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, with APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka serving as secretary, and the Secretariat Committee is chaired by Hon. Ayoola Peter Olajolo.
The breadth of the council, spanning sitting governors from Imo, Yobe, Lagos, Edo, Gombe, Kogi, Niger, Cross River, Kaduna, Delta, and Nasarawa states, alongside top National Assembly leadership, signals the weight the ruling party is placing behind the Osun contest as a test of its dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The council and its sub-committees are set to be formally inaugurated on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre in Abuja, at 12 noon.
