By The Osun State Government has announced another round of palliative payments to civil servants, describing the move as part of its ongoing efforts to support workers amid prevailing economic challenges.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said the latest disbursement reflects the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of public servants.
According to the statement, the government introduced periodic palliative payments before implementing the new national minimum wage, adding that Osun was among the first states in the country to adopt the wage increase.
The government said the palliative payments are intended to complement workers’ salaries and cushion the impact of economic hardship.
The statement also contrasted the current administration’s labour policies with those of the previous government, alleging that civil servants under the former administration were denied salaries and other entitlements.
It added that the Adeleke administration remains focused on improving workers’ welfare, restoring confidence in the public service, and strengthening service delivery across the state.
