The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abiodun Oyebanji, winner of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.
Oyebanji, who contested for a second term, secured 319,224 votes to defeat other candidates in the election held on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Bejide Oluwadare, came second with 12,872 votes, while Oluyede Olumayokun of the Labour Party scored 40,543 votes. The Action Democratic Party (ADP) candidate polled 1,269 votes. Notably, otherwise parties registered scores below 1000.
The Returning Officer for the election declared Oyebanji the winner after he recorded the highest number of votes cast in the governorship poll.
According to the election figures released by INEC, Ekiti State had a total of 988,251 registered voters, while 384,940 voters were accredited to participate in the election.
The commission recorded 382,109 total votes cast, with 375,777 votes declared valid and 6,332 votes rejected.
Oyebanji’s victory secures him a second term as governor of Ekiti State.
