‎The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has raised alarm over the circulation of false information concerning its ongoing recruitment exercise, warning that those responsible for spreading misinformation will face prosecution.

According to a statement signed by Mrs. Okeh Juliet on behalf of the Secretary to the Board and dated June 21, 2026, the Board said it had observed the widespread dissemination of misleading messages across social media and other online platforms, creating confusion among applicants and the general public.

‎The Board urged prospective applicants and stakeholders to be vigilant and verify any recruitment-related information before acting on it. According to the notice, false reports about the exercise have the potential to disrupt the recruitment process and mislead genuine applicants seeking employment opportunities within the services under the Board.

‎Speaking on the development, Head of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Okeh Juliet, said the Board was taking steps to track down individuals and groups behind the false claims.

‎“The spread of unauthorized and misleading information is a criminal offense. Offenders will be brought to book and sanctioned in accordance with extant laws,” she stated.

‎The Board described the notice as a final warning to social media users and account holders involved in sharing unverified recruitment information. It added that it was working closely with relevant security and law enforcement agencies to identify and prosecute offenders.

‎“The Board is collaborating with relevant security and law enforcement agencies to monitor and address all cases of misinformation. Violators will be prosecuted accordingly,” the statement added.

‎CDCFIB advised applicants to rely solely on its official recruitment portal and verified communication channels for updates regarding the ongoing exercise.

‎“Applicants and stakeholders are strongly advised to rely only on the official CDCFIB recruitment portal for authentic updates,” Mrs. Juliet said.

‎The Board also appealed to members of the public to report suspicious content and refrain from sharing information that has not been verified.
