By The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested three suspects across separate operations involving armed robbery, motorcycle theft and cattle rustling, recovering N1.93m in cash, a Sharon vehicle, two motorcycles and a cow in the process.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, disclosed the breakthroughs in a statement issued in Dutse on Saturday, crediting sustained intelligence-led policing, proactive patrols and community cooperation for the results.
Armed Robbery Suspect Nabbed
Operatives attached to Birniwa Division arrested 40-year-old Amadu Garba of Isari settlement camp in Birniwa Local Government Area, recovering N1.93m in connection with the arrest. “Police operatives attached to Birniwa Division, acting on credible intelligence and through sustained investigative efforts, have arrested one Amadu Garba and recovered the sum of One Million, Nine Hundred and Thirty Thousand Naira,” Adam said.
The suspect is being investigated over a robbery that took place on September 11, 2026, at around 2am along the Garin Sule-Maskan Dare Market axis in Machina Local Government Area of neighbouring Yobe State, where marketers were reportedly dispossessed of more than N30m. Adam said the arrest followed painstaking investigation and intelligence work that ultimately traced the suspect to Birniwa. He confirmed that Garba and the recovered cash would be handed over to the Yobe State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
Motorcycle Theft Suspect Arrested in Dutse
In a separate case, officers attached to Yalwawa Division in Dutse arrested a suspected motorcycle thief and recovered one of two motorcycles reported stolen from a residence in the Mechanic Village area of Dutse metropolis. The arrest was made on September 11, 2026, at around 6:20am.
“Following the report, operatives commenced discreet investigation and intelligence-led tracing efforts, which eventually led to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of one of the stolen motorcycles,” Adam said, adding that the suspect remains in custody and is assisting investigators in tracking down the second motorcycle.
Motorcycle Snatcher Caught With Help of Good Samaritan
Operatives attached to Aujara Division, working alongside a member of the public, arrested a suspected motorcycle snatcher and recovered the stolen bike. The suspect was identified as 55-year-old Ado Sale of Kawari village in Ajingi Local Government Area, Kano State, and was arrested on September 11 at around 12:40pm.
According to Adam, the victim, a commercial motorcycle rider, had been hired to convey an unknown passenger from Jahun to Aujara town. The passenger allegedly handed the rider a polythene bag containing clothes and took the motorcycle under the pretext of picking up his sister, then failed to return. The rider reported the matter to police, and with the help of a Good Samaritan, officers tracked down the suspect and recovered the motorcycle.
Cattle Rustling Suspects Flee, Vehicle and Cow Recovered
On the cattle rustling front, police personnel attached to Maigatari Division intercepted a blue Sharon vehicle with registration number SA 535 TRN transporting a cow. The interception took place on September 10, 2026, at around 11pm, but the two occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled into nearby bush before they could be apprehended.
“The police operatives immediately secured the abandoned blue Sharon vehicle and one cow, which have been taken into custody as exhibits,” Adam said, adding that efforts are ongoing to trace the fleeing suspects and confirm the rightful ownership of the recovered vehicle and animal.
Commissioner’s Response
Adam quoted Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijjani Murtala, as commending the operatives involved across all three operations for their vigilance and professionalism. The commissioner reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling crime through intelligence-led strategies and community policing, and confirmed that all suspects would be charged to court once investigations are complete.
