Maduka University has responded to allegations circulating on social media regarding the non-release of an official transcript belonging to a medical student, insisting that due process was followed and accusing the student’s mother of spreading false claims against the institution.

In a statement signed by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Charles Ogbulogo, the university said the controversy stemmed from the parents’ failure to provide the name of the institution where the transcript should be sent.

According to the statement, the Registrar had informed the student’s father that the university only sends official transcripts directly to designated institutions in line with academic procedures.

“The student’s father was duly informed by the Registrar to provide the name of the institution to which the official transcript would be sent, in line with standard university practice and established academic procedures,” the statement read.

The university also dismissed claims made by the student’s mother, Mrs. Chika Akhigbe, that all school fees had been paid and that payment had already been made for transcript processing.

Maduka University stated that the family still owes N500,000 out of the N3.5 million school fees for the 2025/2026 academic session.

“As at May 21, 2026, the University is yet to receive any payment from her for the purpose of any transcript processing,” the institution stated.

The management further denied allegations that tuition fees for returning medical students had been increased to N4.5 million, clarifying that the approved fee for the 2026/2027 session, including accommodation, is N4,010,000.

The university also rejected claims that the institution increases fees annually or has become unaffordable, insisting that it maintains one of the lowest fee structures among similar private universities.

Addressing other allegations raised in the viral video, the institution denied claims of insecurity on campus and disputed assertions that the student involved was the best-performing student in her class.

The statement also clarified that the Vice Chancellor never personally handled discussions concerning the transcript issue.

“At no point did the Vice-Chancellor handle or discuss the official transcript matter with the student’s parents,” the statement added.

Maduka University accused Mrs. Akhigbe of attempting to damage the institution’s reputation through social media pressure and what it described as a campaign of defamation.

“It is clear that she is on a mission to tarnish the reputation of the University through her campaign of calumny and character defamation,” the statement said.

The university maintained that it remains committed to professionalism, due process, and adherence to academic standards in all administrative matters.
