By The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has again warned the public against relying on information published by an unauthorized social media account operating on X (formerly Twitter) under the name “Nigeria National Grid.”
In a statement issued on June 5, 2026, the organization said it had previously disassociated itself from the account in January but observed that the platform continues to publish what it described as misleading and unauthorized information about Nigeria’s electricity grid.
According to NISO, the account is neither owned nor managed by the organization and has no connection whatsoever to its operations or official communications.
”NISO does not own, manage, control, or operate the social media account on X (formerly Twitter) bearing the name ‘Nigeria National Grid’.”
The agency stated that the individuals or entities behind the account remain unknown and are not authorized to represent the organization, communicate on its behalf, or express its official views.
NISO expressed concern that information shared through the account could mislead members of the public, media organizations, and other stakeholders seeking accurate updates on the country’s power transmission system.
”We have no affiliation with this account. The individuals or entities operating it are unknown to the organization and are in no way authorized to speak on its behalf, represent its views, or act under our name.”
The operator urged journalists, industry stakeholders, and members of the public to refrain from quoting, referencing, or attributing any information published by the account to the organization.
It emphasized that any statements, opinions, or claims appearing on the page should not be regarded as reflecting NISO’s official position, operations, or activities.
As the institution legally mandated to manage Nigeria’s national grid, NISO said all official communications are disseminated exclusively through its verified channels on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, and its official website.
