The Peace Corps of Nigeria, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, and the Cedars for Human Welfare Initiative have expressed readiness to collaborate with the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission to ensure a peaceful, credible, and well-organized local government election. The commitment was made during separate courtesy visits to the Commission, where the groups emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among stakeholders.

‎Representatives of the organizations highlighted the need for strong collaboration to boost voter confidence and uphold electoral integrity across the state. They noted that effective partnerships between civic bodies, humanitarian groups, and electoral authorities remain critical to minimizing disruptions and promoting orderly participation during the polls.

‎The Commandant of the Peace Corps of Nigeria in Oyo State, Barrister Lukman Fasasi, assured the Commission of the corps’ preparedness to support voter education and assist with crowd management in a neutral and professional manner. He stated that their involvement would focus strictly on non-partisan roles aimed at facilitating a smooth electoral process.

‎Also speaking, the Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Oyo State Branch, Engineer Babalola Famade, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to providing humanitarian services throughout the election period.

‎“Elections are about people, and wherever people gather, the Red Cross has a duty to be present, neutral, impartial, and ready to serve. We pledge full cooperation with OYSIEC, security agencies, and all stakeholders for a peaceful and successful exercise.” he said.

‎In his response, the Chairman of OYSIEC, Dr Afees Adeniyi, commended the organizations for their support, describing the partnership as vital to achieving a transparent and widely accepted electoral outcome. Earlier, the Cedars for Human Welfare Initiative, led by Dr Bukola Olatunji, also pledged continued support through advocacy, public sensitization, and capacity building, aimed at strengthening trust in the electoral process and encouraging peaceful civic engagement.
