By The APC Rivers State has dismissed a circulating list of cleared and uncleared aspirants for the Rivers State House of Assembly, saying the publication is false and unauthorized
In a statement issued on 11th May, 2026, signed by Hon. Tanko Yamowa, Secretary Screening Committee for Rivers State, he stated that the party’s attention has been drawn to the widely circulated list of cleared and uncleared aspirants. The party expressed that “We wish to categorically state that the said publication is false, unauthorized and does not emanate from the appropriate party authorities”
He further said that it’s pertinent to note that the screening exercise which was conducted by the committee headed by Mauriana Ajibola was concluded less than 24 hours ago and no official list has been released by the party.
The party expressed that they are guided by established rules and structured timelines. Further information regarding the screening results will be disseminated through the appropriate channels.
“As a responsible political party, we are guided by established procedures, rules and timelines regarding the publication of screening results and related information. Any official communication concerning the status of aspirants will be communicated through the appropriate channels in due course”
The party urged party faithful, aspirants, supporters and the general public to disregard the purported list and treat it “as the handiwork of mischief makers whose intention is to create confusion and unnecessary tension within the party.” The statement reads.
The statement concluded, “the party remains committed to transparency, fairness and due process throughout the entire exercise”
Earlier today, the screening results that were debunked by the APC have caused controversies on social media as the general public linked the screening results to the existing political tussle in the state. Others used it as a metric in determining the political survival of the state.
