The Oyo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the abduction of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, and her twin sons, Peter and Paul, in Ibadan.

AfrikTimes earlier reported that Mrs John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons were kidnapped at about 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday while she was on her way to drop them off at school in Ibadan.

In a fresh statement, the Oyo State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed that the Command had begun investigations into the incident and had deployed tactical teams to facilitate the rescue of the victims.

According to the police, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Challenge Division and other tactical units to move to the scene following the report of the incident.

“The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Challenge Division, alongside other tactical teams, to proceed to the scene where the victim’s vehicle was recovered and commence intensive investigations,” the statement read.

The Command assured residents that all necessary resources had been mobilised to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the arrest of the perpetrators.

“The Command wishes to assure members of the public that all necessary resources have been deployed to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the apprehension of those responsible for this criminal act,” the police added.

The police also urged residents to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies by volunteering credible information that could aid the operation.
