Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has stated that the former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi would not get a chance at securing the party’s 2027 presidential ticket due to the leadership structure of the African Democratic Congress.

Speaking during his monthly media chat in Abuja on Monday, Wike described Amaechi’s bid for the ADC presidential nomination as “Atiku’s set-up 100 per cent.”

“Amaechi is my brother. I served as Chief of Staff in his government. When I saw that he was running with them, I knew what would happen. If he had called me, I would have said Don’t go there. It was clear he would not get transparency or due process,” Wike said.

Wike argued that he’s well familiar with political games as a politician and he stated that the structure of ADC would not birth free and fair elections.

“You cannot set a trap for me. We know ourselves as politicians. Who told you that kind of structure would give you transparency? Who told you that kind of structure would give you free and fair elections?” He noted

He also argued that Amaechi was carried away by public opinion which emphasis was laid upon on a no working government. He stated that the tactics is used to lure people in and credibility will be given to themselves.

Wike also accused David Mark for failing to perform his duties which was the emergence of Atiku as the party’s presidential candidate.

Amaechi once accused the party through his X account that the primaries was devoid of transparency as members were prevented from voting. Wike’s criticisms emanated after Amaechi’s lamentations about the fairness of the election.

According to the ADC, Atiku polled 1,846,370 votes to defeat Amaechi, who secured 504,117 votes, while Mohammad Hayatu-Deen came third with 177,120 votes
