The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Oyo State Branch, on Thursday, May 21, 2026, commissioned a new secretariat building in Ibadan.
The five-storey complex, located at Ade-Oyo Road, Ibadan, was commissioned in honour of Pharm. (Asiwaju) Theophilus Adebowale Omotosho. The project is considered symbolic as the Oyo State branch becomes the first PSN branch in Nigeria to own a magnificent five-storey structure.

The commissioning ceremony attracted dignitaries from across the country, including representatives of PSN branches from several states. Among those present were the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasheed Ladoja; National President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Pharm. Ayuba Tanko; Chairman of PSN, Oyo State Branch, Pharm. (Col.) Victor Segun Ajanaku (Rtd); Chairman of ACPN, Oyo State Chapter, Pharm. Adebayo Gbadamosi; Pharm. High Chief Sunday Ogunlade of the PSN Lagos State Chapter; Pharm. Oyesunmola Ogunuga, members of the Justice of the Peace, and other distinguished guests.

In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Oyo State Branch, Pharm. (Col.) Victor Segun Ajanaku (Rtd), appreciated the honouree of the day, Asiwaju Adebowale Omotosho, noting that his immense contribution made the project a reality.
”We are grateful to our father in the profession Asiwaju Adebowale Omotosho, FPSN chairman of Bond Chemical Industries Awe, who contributed substantial part of the money we used in bringing this edifice to a state of which we are proud of today,” he said.
He also commended the project committee for its dedication towards the successful completion of the building. According to him, the Project Committee Chairman, Pharm. Rahamon Amidu Oyewole, not only supervised the project physically but also provided financial support throughout its execution.
Speaking at the event, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasheed Ladoja, urged the pharmaceutical industry to collaborate with practitioners of traditional medicine, noting that such synergy would advance indigenous medicine and promote local healthcare development.
”Is not that everything you have here is not good, but you should also have an open mind to embrace the traditional medicinal,” he said.
He added that while the pharmaceutical industry might not accept every aspect of traditional practices, there was a need to extract useful elements from them. He further assured that the Olubadan Palace would support such collaboration.
In his goodwill message, Chairman of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), Oyo State Chapter, Pharm. Adebayo Gbadamosi, described the successful commissioning of the Pharmacy House as a testament to visionary leadership within the Oyo State branch of the society.
”This remarkable achievement stands as a testament of visionary leadership, unity of purpose, resilience and unwavering commitment of the pharmacy profession towards institutional growth,” he said.

Pharm. (Asiwaju) Theophilus Adebowale Omotosho is a distinguished Nigerian pharmacist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist known for founding and leading Bond Chemical Industries Limited. A native of Awe in Oyo State, born in 1936, he studied Pharmacy at the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom and later obtained a PhD in Business Administration.
Recognized as one of the pioneers of indigenous pharmaceutical manufacturing in Nigeria, Omotosho began with Bond Chemist as a retail pharmacy in 1977 before transforming it into a pharmaceutical manufacturing company in 1986.
He established the factory in his hometown of Awe as part of efforts to promote rural and economic development. A Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (FPSN), he received the Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy (NAPharm) Lifetime Achievement Award in 2025 for his impact on the pharmacy profession and the nation’s economy.
