‎Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has dismissed reports circulating on social media that attempt to associate him with the recent abduction of the sister of the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu.

‎In a statement issued by his media office, the senator described the publication as false, malicious and politically motivated, insisting that he has no connection whatsoever with the kidnapping of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke and her twin sons.

‎The statement said efforts to link the lawmaker to the crime were based on unverified claims allegedly made by a suspect under investigation, noting that no security agency had established any connection between Senator Alli and the incident.

‎According to the media office, the senator’s record as a serving federal lawmaker, legal practitioner and traditional title holder in Ibadan makes the allegations both illogical and defamatory.

‎The statement further alleged that attempts to associate campaign materials bearing the senator’s name with criminal activities were part of a deliberate effort by political opponents to damage his reputation and create unnecessary tension within the state’s political space.

‎”Senator Alli has no connection whatsoever with the said criminal incident, the individuals mentioned, or any activity related to kidnapping or violence,” the statement said.

‎The media office also maintained that the report itself acknowledged that security agencies had not linked the senator to the alleged crime, describing the circulation of such claims as an attempt to mislead the public.

‎Reaffirming his stance against criminality, the senator condemned kidnapping and other violent crimes, stressing his continued support for measures aimed at improving security and protecting lives and property across Oyo State and the country.

‎”Senator Alli strongly condemns kidnapping and every form of criminality,” the statement added.

‎The senator’s media office urged members of the public to disregard the allegations and avoid spreading information that could undermine ongoing investigations. It also called on security agencies to investigate the origin of the claims and take action against those responsible for disseminating what it described as fake news and political blackmail.

‎The statement noted that Senator Alli remains committed to his legislative responsibilities and his vision for a safer, more prosperous and united Oyo State.
