- Prime suspect also linked to August 24 deaths of two passers-by
The Osun State Police Command has arrested three men in connection with the killing of a man identified as Seun Ajayi at a barbing salon in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Thursday, October 15, 2026, and signed by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, police named the suspects as Nurudeen Ademakinwa, 30, also known as “Igboya Aye-nuru”; Agboluaje Usman, 23; and Awoniran Toheeb, 20.
Confirming the incident to our correspondent by phone, the PPRO said the case was reported at the Ikire Divisional Police Headquarters at about 7:30 p.m. on October 3, 2026. The complainant told officers that at about 6 p.m. that day, he and his friend, Ajayi, were having their hair cut at a salon in the Oja-Ale area when a group of hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons attacked them. Police said Ademakinwa allegedly led the group.
Ajayi was macheted to death, police said, while the complainant escaped.
The command said the three suspects were arrested on October 5, 2026, two days after the killing, in an intelligence-led operation. Items police said were recovered include an axe, two double-edged knives and three Android phones.
Police also alleged that Ademakinwa sent threatening voice messages to some residents of Wasimi, warning them to leave the town or face consequences.
The command further alleged that Ademakinwa was actively involved in the killing of two passers-by during an attack on policemen from the Ikire Division on August 24, 2026.
The police said all three suspects would be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
