Arsenal Football Club have been crowned champions of the 2025/2026 English Premier League season after Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday, May 19.
Arsenal were on the top of the table with 82 points following their narrow 1-0 victory over Burnley on Monday. The decisive goal came from Kai Havertz, whose header secured all three points for the Gunners.
Manchester City were second on the table with 77 points and needed a win in their Tuesday encounter away at the Vitality Stadium to keep the title race alive.
However, Bournemouth, who came into the match on a 16-game unbeaten run in all competitions, frustrated Pep Guardiola’s side throughout the encounter. Junior Kroupi opened the scoring in the 39th minute with a right-footed finish into the top corner after being set up by left-back Adrien Truffert.
City struggled to break down Bournemouth’s defence for most of the match before Erling Haaland found a late equaliser in stoppage time after reacting quickest to a rebound from Rodri’s shot that struck the post. The match eventually ended 1-1, a result that officially handed Arsenal the league title.
The triumph marks Arsenal’s first Premier League title since 2004, when the club famously completed an unbeaten league campaign under Arsène Wenger.

Under manager Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have now ended years of near misses in the title race. In recent seasons, the club narrowly lost out to Manchester City on multiple occasions despite mounting strong challenges.
Arsenal trailed 10 points behind Liverpool in 2025. In 2024, Arsenal trailed two points behind Manchester City. Similarly in 2023, Arsenal failed to clinch the trophy after a five-point gap behind Manchester City decided their fate.
So far this season, Arsenal have won 25 matches, drawn seven, and lost five out of 37 league games. They have scored 69 goals and conceded just 26, with their defensive record standing as the best in the league.
Goalkeeper David Raya also emerged as one of the standout performers for the Gunners after keeping 19 clean sheets in 37 appearances, helping Arsenal maintain the strongest defence in the division.
Since taking charge of Arsenal in December 2019, Arteta has now added the Premier League trophy to his FA Cup and Community Shield titles.
Since Arteta’s appointment on December 20, 2019, he has only secured one FA Cup and two Community Shield titles. He has now added the Premier League trophy to the cabinet, a feat that has not been achieved since Arsenal won the league in 2004.
With one league fixture remaining against Crystal Palace on May 24, Arsenal will now shift focus to the UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain scheduled for May 30, 2026.
