The Super Eagles of Nigeria have advanced to the final of the 2026 Unity Cup in London after defeating the Zimbabwe Warriors 2-0 in the tournament opener on Tuesday night.
The match at The Valley Stadium was filled with several dramatic moments and lived up to expectations. Defending champions Super Eagles proved seniority over their counterpart in this encounter.
Millwall Forward Femi Azeez scored twice for the Super Eagles, finding the net in both halves to seal the victory.
The debutant announced himself in the 5th minute when captain Terem Moffi provided an assist, and Azeez fired a low shot from the edge of the box into the bottom-left corner.
Yusuf came close to doubling the Super Eagles’ lead in the 35th minute, but his effort was unsuccessful.
Femi grabbed his second goal in the 62nd minute from another assist by Moffi. The striker dashed into the box before laying a square pass for Azeez, who calmly slotted the ball past the Zimbabwe goalkeeper.
Despite several attempts by Zimbabwe to respond, Nigeria’s defence stood firm to deny the opponents any breakthrough.
The second semi-final match will take place tomorrow, with India and Jamaica set to battle for the remaining spot in the final.
