A 60-year-old building materials trader has been abducted by suspected gunmen in Ibadan, AfrikTimes can report.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the incident was reported on May 2, 2026, at about 8:47pm from the Monatan area of the city.
He noted that investigation from the police indicated that the victim was attacked while returning home along the Jinarere axis of Alakia Road.
According to him, four masked armed men forcefully whisked him away in an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla vehicle.
The police disclosed that operatives moved quickly to the scene upon receiving the distress report and have since activated operational strategies to rescue the victim and track down the suspects.
The Command assured residents that efforts have been activated to rescue the man and forestall further occurrence.
“Efforts are ongoing, and the Command wishes to assure the public that all available resources are being deployed to secure the safe rescue of the victim and bring those responsible to justice,” he said.
