The National Examinations Council (NECO) has raised an alarm over the activities of fraudsters operating fake online recruitment portals targeted at members of the public seeking appointment as examination supervisors.

‎In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 and signed by the Ag. Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, the examination body said some fraudulent platforms were requesting applicants to submit their academic details and make payments before accessing recruitment services.

‎NECO, however, clarified that it does not demand any payment from teachers interested in serving as supervisors for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.

‎The council said the recruitment process has been moved from the previous manual system to a fully electronic platform as part of measures to improve examination supervision and reduce malpractice.

‎“The Council does not request for any payment from teachers applying to serve as examination supervisors in the forthcoming 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.” the statement read.

‎According to NECO, qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above, who are at least 30 years old and wish to participate as supervisors, should apply through its official website.

‎It added that the recruitment process is automated and does not require the involvement of any third party.

‎”It should be noted that the Supervisor recruitment on NECO website is fully automated and no third party is required” the statement added.

‎The council further stated that the new system would help block fraudulent recruitment activities, strengthen examination monitoring and promote transparency in the selection process.

‎NECO disclosed that no fewer than 22,000 supervisors would be recruited to ensure effective conduct of the 2026 SSCE Internal examination, scheduled to begin on June 15, 2026.
