‎President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has administered the oath of office to eight newly appointed Federal Commissioners who will serve on the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and the National Population Commission (NPC).

‎The swearing-in ceremony, held on Monday, saw two commissioners appointed to the RMAFC and six others to the NPC as part of efforts to strengthen key government institutions responsible for revenue distribution and population management.

‎The new RMAFC commissioners are Hajiya Amina Ibrahim Gamawa and Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad, while the NPC members are Nasiru Mu’azu Magarya, Kolawole Oladipupo Alabi, Prof. Sadiq Isah Radda, Suleiman Umar, Dr Isiaka Alada Yahaya, and Chiso Abdullahi Dattijo.

‎Gamawa, a native of Bauchi State, is a legal practitioner with experience across several public institutions, including the National Assembly, Corporate Affairs Commission, Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, and the National Youth Service Corps. She was also involved in the establishment of the National Blood Transfusion Service in Nigeria.

‎Muhammad, from Kaduna State, is a lawyer with academic qualifications in law, international affairs, diplomacy, and peace and security studies. He previously served in various leadership positions at the Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, where he rose to become chairman and chief executive officer.

‎Among the newly appointed NPC commissioners, Magarya from Zamfara State brings legislative and public health experience, having served as Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly between 2019 and 2023. He was also involved in the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

‎Alabi, an information technology and supply chain management expert from Ekiti State, previously served as Executive Commissioner for Corporate Services at the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

‎Prof. Radda, a sociology and criminology scholar from Katsina State, has held academic and administrative positions at Bayero University, Kano, including Deputy Vice Chancellor. He also served as Executive Secretary and member of the Presidential Committee Against Corruption.

‎Other appointees include Umar, a former Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration; Yahaya, a long-serving National Population Commission official who rose to become Director of Public Affairs; and Dattijo, a former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State who has also served in several state ministries.

‎Dattijo’s appointment marks a return to the NPC, following his previous service as a Federal Commissioner.

‎The appointments come as the administration continues efforts to strengthen agencies responsible for national planning, revenue allocation, and demographic data management.
